Self sourced internships are those where you and/or your supervisor take the initiative to contact an outside organization to act as your internship provider. The project is negotiated between you, your supervisor, and the host organization, once the host organization, confirms its willingness to host you for an internship. It is basically an internship that is obtained by the student but is not their own employment. This placement type is subject to all internship management and host organization requirements outlined in this document.
Many students prefer to find their own internships. We cheer you to self-source an internship that directly aligns with your career aspirations. Before the commencement of the PY Internships Component, must approve all self sourced internships. All internships must be relevant to a student’s principal course of study. It also must incorporate practical work applicable to its field of study. Based on a formal agreement and a personalized training plan between the ATMC, student, and Host Company, the internships must aim to provide a practical experience in the workplace.
You must be aware before entering the internships for student’s program:
- Successfully completed all class work
- Comply with self-sourced internship verification and approval process and minimum requirements
